Generations/Conversations

An inter-generational interview series

Generations/Conversations was launched in late 2012 to create opportunities for different generations of composers to come into dialogue about their creative practices, histories, and aspirations. Through the administration of the project, CMC Ontario pairs young volunteers with established or senior composers. After some initial research, the young participant conducts and records an interview with their composer and then transcribes the interview for inclusion in our newsletter, Ontario Notations. You can click here to view the first issue of Notations to feature Generations/Conversations.

Summer 2013: Three more Associate Composers were featured in the Notations Newsletter, including Barrie Cabena, Steven Gellman, and Phil Nimmons. Click here to read the interviews!

Spring 2014: Two more Associate Composers were featured in our newsletter. Click here to read an interview with Norma Beecroft, and click here to read an interview with Kristi Allik.

Summer 2014: Another round of Generations/Conversations interviews made its way onto the pages on Notations. Click here to read an interview with Norman Sherman, click here to read a summary of a conversation with Alan Torok, and lastly click here to read the interview with Mark Sirett.
