The Atlantic Region is the youngest of the five regional Canadian Music Centre offices. Opened in 1989, it is located on the campus of Mount Allison University in Sackville, New Brunswick. As well as operating a lending library of Canadian scores, our staff addresses special requests concerning Canadian music, and serves the needs of the Associate Composers in the region through a variety of projects. We work closely with other arts organizations in the Atlantic Region to promote Canadian music and Canadian composers. Although small in population, the region is spread out geographically and has two major art-music centres - Halifax, NS and St. John's, NL - as well as many smaller centres with vibrant arts communities. Our mission is to connect all these places and groups in the creation, performance, and appreciation of Canadian music.
