Please find below, step-by-step instructions on how to find materials and borrow scores from our loaning library.

Step 1

Create an account in the top right-hand corner of our website at


Step 2

1) Once you are logged in, please click on Advance Search under the white search field in the top right-hand corner of the browser page. Proceed to the Sheet Music tab, where you can search our entire catalogue by last name of composer, title of work and instrumentation.

2) You can also click on Sheet Music, located in the black menu bar.

Within this section you can browse sheet music by genre. We presently have Chamber, Orchestral, and Choral music listed and hope to provide more direct links throughout the year. You can also peruse our Choral, Orchestral, Piano, Winds and Strings catalogues. A link to our Advance Search is also available from this page within the Quick Search box.


Step 3

Finding what you need using our Advance Search.

Searching by Instrumentation:

1) Example – Searching for Full Orchestra:
Under Include/Exclude select Includes Instrument, under Instrument Type choose Large Ensemble and under Instrument choose Full orchestra and click on the yellow Search button. A complete list of Full Orchestra works will appear that you can search through.

2) Example – Searching for Voice and Piano:
Under Include/Exclude select Includes Instrument, under Instrument Type choose Keyboard and under Instrument choose Piano. Click on Add Instrumentation Search Row and continue with the same procedure for voice. Click on the yellow Search button and a complete list of Voice and Piano works will appear.

You can also combine the instrumentation search tool with composer for more results.

If you know the composer name and title of work you are looking for, enter that information directly into the fields provided and click search.


Step 4

After completing your search, a list of works will appear. You can organize them by Title, Composer, and Resource Type, by clicking on title at the top of each column. To view a complete catalogue record, click on the title of work.

To borrow the work, scroll down to the bottom of the catalogue record and click on Add To Request List.


Step 5

After you have selected all the works you would like to borrow, complete your online loan request by clicking on My Requests in the black menu bar at the top of the page.

If you would like to pick-up your loan from the Canadian Music Centre, please specify this in the notes field provided within My Requests.

To complete your loan please click on Send Request.
