Event Title: Canadian Day Revisited

Stunning musicians who enthralled audiences at Canadian Day in Rome last July are about to do the same at Toronto’s Lula Lounge.

Colin Eatock’s Ashes of Soldiers, with words from Walt Whitman’s Leaves of Grass, received its broadcast premiere when the Rome concert was broadcast live on the internet. Soprano Jana Miller and clarinetist Kornel Wolak bring it to the stage again, with Younggun Kim at the piano. Violin virtuoso Guillaume Tardif reprises his performance of Aria by Jean Papineau-Couture.

The first set also features music by Brahms, Schubert, Poulenc, Rossini and Nikolai Kapustin. In the second set, the JUNO winning Dominic Mancuso Group serves up Sicilian-inspired jazz and world music.

The evening is a fundraiser for the International Resource Centre for Performing Artists, which presented the concert in Rome, and this evening’s concert.

Donors of $50 or more will receive a tax receipt, plus a CD of the July 5 live steamed broadcast of the classical concert.

Doors open 6:30 for dinner reservations. 416-588-0307 (reservations)
