Oboist Elizabeth Eccleston is in the final stage of doctoral studies from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music where she also obtained her Master’s degree. Elizabeth began playing with the Kamloops Symphony at age 15. Later during her undergraduate years at Wilfrid Laurier University, she free-lanced in Ontario with the KW Symphony, Orchestra London, and the Windsor Symphony. In graduate school, she performed with numerous ensembles in Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky. In addition to her involvement with chamber and orchestral music, she has also been featured as a concerto soloist in Kamloops, Thunder Bay, Waterloo and Cincinnati. Elizabeth has toured with festivals in China, Italy, the US, as well as two summers with the National Youth Orchestra of Canada and the National Academy Orchestra of Canada. She is a member of the Toronto-based Thin Edge New Music Collective, premiering works by Canadian composers for this select chamber ensemble each spring. This is her third season with the Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra as Second Oboe/English Horn. In her spare time she enjoys playing disc golf and snowboarding.
