In this video arts critic Robert Enright profiles composer Diana McIntosh, who he calls the "Queen mother of avant-garde music in Winnipeg." He discusses at length her theatrical approach to composition, saying that she is known for "playing odd instruments, or playing normal instruments oddly." McIntosh describes herself as part composer, performance artist, actress and pianist in one. In response to the question of whether it's hard for her to be taken seriously McIntosh responds, "I don't want to be taken as a comic relief. I think I express a sense of joy and wit and humour that's a natural part of life, but I want to balance that with everything else."
