"Jack Behrens is a graduate of the Juilliard School and Harvard University (Ph. D.), where he studied composition with William Bergsma, Peter Mennin, Vincent Persichetti, Roger Sessions and Leon Kirchner. His compositions are recorded on the Opus One, Orion, and McGill labels. He is Artistic Director of Trillium Plus Music & Letters, which promotes Canadian creative endeavors in music and in the arts generally, and creates a public forum for such artists.

Jack Behrens and John Cage met in 1960 at the American Dance Festival in New London, Connecticut where the composers were in residence with the Ruth Currier and Merce Cunningham Dance Companies respectively. Although Cage often wrote of his dislike of recordings in that they turned a process into an object, he co-operated in the present venture by recording Satie's prose with the proviso that it precede or follow (but not be superimposed upon) Satie's music. In addition, he granted permission for the use of Ten Stones 2 as cover art." - J.B.
