Programme Note:
The Composer was asked to write a song (text and music) commemorating the arrival of Philip McLachlan from the Scottish Highlands in South Africa in 1817. Philip became the father of the Afrikaans-speaking McLachlans, who celebrated this event September 24, 2007. It is also to be sung at the greater McLachlan Festival in Strachlachlan, Scotland in 2017. The song, for solo voice and piano, is in 4 stanzas with refrain, and available in two voice ranges: Medium (D major) and High (F major).
