In conjunction with World Mental Health Day, pianist and CMC Associate Composer, Frank Horvat, will be giving a special solo piano performance. Frank will share compositions from his album, You Haven't Been, as well as the personal stories behind them. Introspective, full of hope and despair, the music looks at this storytelling pianist’s own struggles and successes dealing with depression and anxiety. "Deeply personal and profoundly beautiful music," – WholeNote Magazine

Mental health can be a difficult subject to discuss. This evening hopes to remove the stigma surrounding mental health and give audiences rare access to peer into another’s personal journey.

Half of ticket sales will be donated to Stella's Place and The Centre for Mindfulness Studies in Toronto. Representatives from these mental health organizations will be on-hand to answer questions and talk about how they help those dealing with mental health issues. By the time Canadians reach 40 years of age, 1 in 2 have—or have had—a mental illness (Mental Health Commission of Canada).

*The Canadian Music Centre is an accessible venue through a street level entrance to the right of the main entrance. The CMC has gender neutral washrooms. Contact ontario@musiccentre.ca with any questions pertaining to accessibility.
