Tyler Versluis

Tyler Versluis’s concert music has been heard across Canada and the USA, as well as in France and the Netherlands. He has participated in several festivals and residencies, including the VISI Art Song Lab, Fresh Inc Festival, the Atlantic Music Festival, Centre d’Arts Orford, the Canadian Contemporary Music Workshop, and the Array Young Composer’s Workshop. Tyler’s music is supported by a growing list of ensembles and collectives, including the Toy Piano Composers, Caution Tape Sound Collective, Arraymusic, ArpaTambora, the Niagara Youth Orchestra, VIVA! Youth Singers of Toronto, Trinity St. Paul’s United Church Choir, and gamUT New Music Ensemble. In 2017 he was awarded the Karen Kieser Prize in Canadian Music for his piece "3 Unuttered Miracles" for accordion and percussion. After initial studies in oboe performance, Tyler studied composition at Brock University and later at the University of Toronto. Outside of composing, he enjoys a varied career as a conductor, liturgical musician, and writer about music. Originally from Saint Catharines, Ontario, Tyler now lives and works in Toronto.
