ONMC workshop & concert

November 2, 2015
National

The Canadian League of Composers (CLC) and Ottawa New Music Creators (ONMC) are pleased to present a unique workshop opportunity for composers, geared toward student composers based in the Ottawa/Gatineau region. A professional trio of piano (Daniel Mehdizadeh), flute (Casey Granofsky), and tuba (Andrew Nowry) will read and discuss sketches submitted by composers for the ensemble in a casual public reading session. Insights and conversation on writing for--and balancing--this rare combination of chamber instruments will be invaluable for both novice and experienced composers.

We invite composers to submit short sketches (no longer than 5 minutes in length) for piano, flute (doubling piccolo and alto flute), and tuba, to be selected by the trio for the workshop. The deadline for submission is February 1, 2016. Please send .pdf scores to curtis.perry@me.com.

The workshop will take place on Saturday, April 9, 2016, at 1:00 in the MacOdrum Library of Carleton University, 1125 Colonel By Drive, Ottawa ON.

Admission is FREE.

Following the workshop, ONMC presents a concert of rarely-heard Canadian works performed by the trio, also in the MacOdrum library of Carleton U, at 8:00. Tickets for the concert are $10, and are available through this link or at the door. More info at onmc.info.
