Well folks, our short season is more or less done. It was a pleasure to host our three concerts as a part of the New Music in New Places project. We'd like to say thanks to everyone who came out and supported, and special thanks to James Harley, Matthew Fava, and Gayle Young. We had a great time making music and meeting other musicians and music lovers. But we're not done.
I first heard the music of Vincent Ho when Dame Evelyn Glennie performed his percussion concerto The Shaman at the Toronto Symphony’s "New Creations Festival" in 2011. It was an amazing, powerful performance of an exciting work, and I’ve been interested in his music ever since.
Today I've been listening to the music of Michael Oesterle. If you have the time I would highly recommend tuning into his Centrestreams channel and getting into all of his archival recordings, but assigned the difficult task of picking one to recommend I am going with Iron Man. Our Centrestreams recording is by the Manitoba Chamber Orchestra with cellist Igor Dyatchkov and conductor Alain Trudel.
